Why I Do This Work
My grandfather owned a small car dealership. His motto was simple: he didn’t want to sell a customer one car, he wanted to sell them seven, by taking such good care of them that they’d keep coming back and send their friends and family. Decades after he retired, former customers were still talking about him that way.
In 2013, inspired by that philosophy, I founded Ellen Williamson Law to build the kind of practice where clients feel that way too. I had clerked at a Dallas probate firm in law school and spent years at the U.S. Small Business Administration learning how to help people navigate complex government processes, and knew that when I returned to private practice, this was the work I wanted to do.
That philosophy shapes everything here: transparent flat fees so you can ask a question without watching a billing clock, plain language so you actually understand what is happening and why, and the kind of communication that makes a hard process feel manageable. Excellent legal work is the baseline, we take that seriously and are always seeking to further our professional development. But we know that what turns a client into someone who sends their friends is how we made them feel, and we have built our systems around delivering that.

Outside the Office
When I am not working, I am with my family, cooking, traveling, playing Texas 42, watching Aggie football, and trying to keep up with my kids on our runs. I am also active in the leadership of my church and the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
